"He is just a total hustler," says film professor Matthew
Lawrence of communications studies major Nikos
DeGruccio. Lawrence, who wrote and directed the movie
Bloody Axe Wound for AMC, hired DeGruccio as a
production assistant. "He came up to me every week
saying he would do any job; he'd sleep in his car.
He just wanted to be on the film set," says Lawrence.
"Who doesn't want that guy on their crew?"
DeGruccio has already made it to the top — at least to
the top of 30 Rock — having completed a yearlong
internship at NBCUniversal. He's earned production
assistant credits for TV shows and movies streamed on
Netflix and Paramount, too.
