1. A slice
of the action
To celebrate National
Pizza Day, Andrea Welker,
dean of engineering, built
a leaning tower of pizza
boxes and analyzed its
structural integrity.
2. We felt the
earth move
When a 4.8 earthquake hit
Hunterdon County, New
Jersey, in April, a seismo-
graph in physics professor
Shannon Graham's office
recorded it. Soon after,
Graham rocked interviews
with The New York Post and
Philadelphia NPR affiliate
WHYY to help explain what
happened.
3. Ahead of
their games
Shoutout to some top TCNJ
coaches: With 722 wins,
softball coach Sally Miller
became the winningest
coach in the program's
history. And swimming and
diving coaches David Dow,
Eric Blevins, Paul Casazza,
and David Cooper earned
NJAC's Coaching Staff of
the Year award.
4. Shining star
Physics major Michael
Polania '25 was named a
2024–2025 Goldwater
Scholar, the most presti-
gious national designation
for undergraduate mathe-
matics, science, and
engineering students.
Aiming high, Polania
hopes to be a theoretical
astrophysicist.
