TALK UP BILL CARDONI SPREADING CHEER You really got it right when you picked Hannah Devoe '25 as one of the cheerleaders to be featured (How We Got Here, fall 2023). Hannah was one of my students when she was in high school, and you will never meet a kinder, more positive, compassionate, and hardworking person. Not only is Hannah full of school spirit, but she is also a cheerleader for the human spirit. I will never forget how proud she was to tell me that she was going to TCNJ, and that she would be participating in the cheerleading program. Go Hannah! LAUREN DAVIS VOIGHT '86 KATZ IS THE GOAT I was one of the first students to be enrolled in the electrical engineering program that Allen Katz started ("Wave rider," fall 2023). I have fond memories of fleshing out the curriculum with classmates Gregory Buddie '74 and Ralph Amato '74. We spent several sessions in Katz's basement and under that 30-foot dish in his backyard. Congratulations to Dr. Katz for still being relevant and a force at TCNJ. FRANK LOCASCIO '75 I still remember when Katz invited his students to his home, and we went down into his basement where he explained how his transmitters sent radio signals to the moon, which bounced around the curvature of earth. RALPH DEMARCO '74 As a former student of Allen Katz, I enjoyed reading about his accom- plishments. He provided training on an Altair microprocessor computer with switches, and punched paper tape to load a BASIC program. I fell in love with microprocessor programming, and went into the field of firmware machine controls for industrial equipment. ALAN MEILACH '77 I was lucky to study under Katz's tutelage in the early days of the program. Problem-solving is still the major skill set I use every day.
