4 The College of New Jersey Magazine Music to our ears Music to our ears Music to our ears Others wrote to tell us they saw these bands too: 1961 The Sundays 1965 Odetta 1965 Pete Seeger 1967 Dave Brubeck Quartet 1968 Spanky and Our Gang 1971 Thulcandra 1972 Billy Cobin 1972 Jonathan Edwards 1972 Orphan 1974 John Sebastian 1975 Al Stewart 2000 Fuel 2000 Mercy River 2000 Mighty Mighty Bosstones 2006 Straylight Run The Lost Tapes List The Lost Tapes List The Lost Tapes List We struck a chord with our music feature. Thanks to the many alum who scoured the playlist to help us make it more complete. Savoy Brown played at TSC but arrived extremely late because they got busted on their way. I think they played only one song because of the time. RICK AND SUSAN BRASNO MYERS '68 " Each issue makes me feel 20 years old again!" STACEY WARD CULLENY '98 One of the highlights of my time at TSC was seeing The Alarm. We were up close and personal with them. Back then, I had every one of their CDs and knew all of their music. Thanks for reminding me. LINDA DUKIET CARTER '91 "The Playlist" brought back some vivid memories of campus life in the '70s. Many of the concerts were a whopping 25 cents to get in. At that time, events were split between Kendall Hall and Packer Gym. The school was a "suitcase" college back then, and most students headed home on weekends. These concerts were like private performances for those of us that stayed around. FRANK TERRANOVA '74 I wanted to add the band Guster to your list. We saw them play in Kendall Hall in 2006. We were pretty big fans. We loved the show and got to meet them backstage. Fun memories. STEFANIE MAFFA PARRY '08 Loved "Face the Music," "TCNJ's Band Slam," and "The Playlist." You left out Sonny Rollins. I saw him at TCNJ, and he and his band were amazing. SCOTT FOX '79 I saw jazz fusion guitarist John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra on campus. You could feel the hall literally vibrate due to the high volume of the music. FRED LUKOWSKI '76 Clarence Clemons (of Bruce Spring- steen's E Street Band) played in the Phelps pub in '82. MARYFRAN O'BRIEN HOLLY '84 I saw The Association in Kendall Hall. My boyfriend (now husband of 53 years) drove down to TSC to attend with me. The following year he got drafted and his concert days were over for a while. SUSAN WILSON '71 Meat Loaf One of the stars that you failed to mention was Meat Loaf. He appeared as Michael Aday while performing in the National Lampoon Show on campus. MARY SASSANO '76 I rarely read through alumni magazines, but I flipped through this one before tossing it in the recycling basket. I saw several of the mentioned bands ("The Playlist," spring 2023) during the two years that I attended Trenton State College. I really loved The Roches' performance in the Rathskeller. Two shows that were not mentioned but played at the college are Buddy Rich and Gary U.S. Bonds. Good times! CHARLIE CUDNEY '82
