e College of New Jersey ANNUAL REPORT 2018–2019 Kool Jazz Trenton native and internationally renowned trumpeter Michael Ray joined the TCNJ Jazz Ensemble for a performance honoring the Department of Music's 100th anniversary celebration. The show featured iconic songs from Ray's days as a member of Kool and the Gang and the Sun Ra Arkestra, two of the most musically influential groups of the 20th century. Movie Magic "Marvin the Magnificent," a short film directed by Tyler Law '19 and Kevin Walsh '19, was named Best Comedy at CMF Terminus in Atlanta, Georgia — the culminating event for the annual Campus Movie Fest Tour. Their five-minute film follows a struggling party magician entering a new world of magical challenges. Two more TCNJ student films, "W.E." and "A Hero's Journey," were recognized in the documentary and editing categories, respectively. A-List Undergrads Eight TCNJ students were the only undergraduate students in the nation invited to present papers at the D.C. Health Communication Conference in Fairfax, Virginia, hosted by George Mason University. Communication studies and public health majors, working with communication studies professor John C. Pollock, presented on a variety of issues related to this year's topic: International and Global Health Communication Research.
