GLOBAL AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH TCNJ Department of Nursing has extended its global outreach to the world community with an emphasis on health and wellness. Faculty members have international profiles in professional nursing organizations, academia, and service. Their expertise has lead to the development of global health course work with an experiential learning component in undeveloped countries. Local community collaborations with academic practice partners allow for faculty practice, student clinical placement, and service opportunities with diverse and often under-served populations throughout the Trenton and Mercer County area. Leadership Through community-engaged learning as well as involvement within one of the more than 150 student clubs and organizations at TCNJ, students become visionary leaders. Student organizations within the Department of Nursing provide students with the opportunity to hold office within the Student Nurses Association (SNA) and the Delta Nu chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nurses (STTI). The professional skills developed through involvement with these organizations, along with faculty-student mentoring, has enabled both undergraduate and graduate students to publish in peer reviewed journals and present at regional and national conferences. The RN to BSN and Master of Nursing programs allow for a variety of courses to be offered off campus through partnerships with local and regional hospital systems. TCNJ is one of the few nursing programs that offer face-to-face classes to give students the opportunity for interactive communication with faculty and other students. Classes are regularly offered during fall, spring and summer semesters. To accommodate the working RN classes typically meet once a week in a three-hour block of time during evening hours. Off-campus classes also offer a reduced tuition rate.
