45 WINTER 2018 '80s and '90s Melissa Wenczel Gurick '84 and Laurie Volpe '90 joined the faculty of The Pennington School's Cervone Center for Learning in Pennington, New Jersey. The Cervone Center helps students with language-based learning disabilities. The New Jersey State Board of Education elected Arcelio Aponte '85 as president for the second time. Aponte is the senior vice chancellor for administration, economic development, and chief financial officer at Rutgers University–Newark. Mary Ann Devine '86 was named 2016–17 Woman of the Year by the American Legion Auxiliary Department of New Jersey for her work with the American Legion Auxiliary Juniors, veterans groups, and Honor Flight of Southern New Jersey. Vincent Angeline MA '91, music teacher at North Hunterdon High School (New Jersey), was named Hunterdon County Teacher of the Year. Farrah M. Walters '98 published Poetic Parenting: Bright Beginnings to Fabulous Futures. Daniel V. Madrid '99 joined AmTrust Title Insurance Co. as New Jersey state counsel and vice president. Kimberly Reynolds Tew '06 and husband, Benjamin: a daughter, Emily Elizabeth, on July 7. Sara Granieri '04 and husband, Pat: a son, Landon Philip, on Aug. 22. Kristina Shemming '10 wed Christoph Schoenbeck '10 on Sept. 15. '40s Minerva Ward '47 reunited with several classmates. (See Talk Up, p. 3.) '70s Joseph Martin '73 is a firearms safety and correctional facility consultant at Consulting Engineers & Scientists Inc. in Malvern, Pennsylvania. Daniel Brettell '74 earned a Master of Sacred Theology from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. Pastor Brettell serves St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fountain Hill, Pennsylvania. Richard A. Micklovic '75 retired from New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company after 41 years. He was the assistant vice president of the commercial division. Georgianne Barlow '76 retired in January 2017. She worked at BMW of North America for 31 years. Michael Weiler '79 helped Harvey Cedars Beach Patrol row to victory at the Long Beach Island Beach Patrol Association Tournament for the third year in a row. Weiler was a student at TCNJ the last time Harvey Cedars had a three-peat (1972–74). Lauren Levin '05 and husband, Christopher '05: a daughter, Kayleigh Vail, on April 10.
