12 The College of New Jersey Magazine P R A I R I E B R A G B O A R D 10 things that make us smile... The revamped Brower Student Center's main entrance now features an interactive art installation called Solarion, a mashup of solar and lion. At its center, an LED screen displays video of actual sun flares from a NASA animation. At night, it shows the moon, which is programmed for the next 20 years to match the correct phase of the moon. Philadelphia-based artists Kate Kaman and Joel Erland took inspiration from the sunburst emblem in the college's logo and our lion mascot. 5 ON KEY "Piano Dave" Schlossburg '06 earned silver medal honors for outstanding achievement from the 2017 Global Music Awards Competition for his debut album A Place Beyond Words, which features Jewish liturgical melodies. The competition brings attention to artists who are underrepre- sented in media. Schlossburg got his start at Eickho Hall where, as a student, he played for diners Wednesday nights. 6 INCREASE IN NUTELLA CRAVINGS LIKELY Chemistry professor Michael Aucott and the Bonner Scholars planted a grove of 15 hazelnut trees next to the TCNJ Campus Garden in October. Rutgers donated the trees as part of its eort to evaluate the impact of dierent environments across New Jersey on hazelnut health. 7 Hump Day Students de-stress, mingle, and take selfies with animal friends during CUB's annual "Zooner." This year's visitors included a camel, goats, chickens, rabbits, ducks, deer, a Scottish Highland calf — and a mechanical bull.
