The evening ended with a group call to Office co-star Rainn Wilson. 8 We are in awe With faculty mentors Jana Gevertz and Michael Ochs, Syndi Barish '16 recently published her undergraduate research results in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. She used data to better understand treatment response for cancer therapies. Barish is a biology PhD student at Yale. 9 Jedi training The force is with students studying the Star Wars films as a cultural phenom- enon in a freshman course this fall, just in time for The Last Jedi, opening in December. 10 Top coat Does putting elementary school students in lab coats help them learn STEM? Education professors Lauren Madden and Marissa Bellino teamed with researchers from North Carolina State University and East Carolina University to find out. Early results show that students who wore lab coats in science class showed improved confidence in their science abilities.
