A look at how TCNJ performed, by the numbers: # 1 Ranking in New Jersey # 35 Ranking in the U.S. + 28 Change from 2014 rankings # 20 As ranked by employers # 38 Based on the percentage of students completing internships 114 Total number of schools ranked $ 50,000 On April 6, three teams of TCNJ student entrepreneurs squared off in the finals of the Mayo Business Plan Competition. e goal was to convince a panel of judges that their idea was the Next Big ing, and the stakes couldn't have been higher. At $50,000, the prize pot was the richest among New Jersey business schools. (See page 18 for more.) INVESTMENT REPORT irteen TCNJ students with a passion for picking stocks managed the $350,000 Herbert B. Mayo Student Investment Fund to a .36 percent annual rate of return this year, closely tracking the S&P 500. "Starting the fall with a bull market and the continuous threat of rising interest rates, the fund sought to ensure diversification and stability," the student managers wrote in a letter accompanying the fund's annual report. "is strategy continued as we moved into a spring of market corrections and a strengthening dollar." Losses in the energy sector were offset by large gains in information technology and utilities. Two key transactions were the addition of 150 shares of Delta Air Lines and the sale of 86 shares of Disney, which was roughly one third of the fund's total position. In recognition of the importance of corporate social responsibility, the student fund managers awarded 13 $500 scholarships to students from Ewing High School who are attending TCNJ. "We firmly believe the student investment fund has prepared us for our future careers," the managers concluded. e seniors are well on their way—they graduated with full-time positions at a variety of prestigious firms.
