More than half of the funding for the $75.46 million project will come from the state, including $40 million from the Building Our Future Bond. The project, which includes a 26,300-square-foot addition to the Chemistry Building and a glass-enclosed Forum, is slated to open by fall of 2017. Built in 1976, the Clayton R. Brower Student Center has been the hub of campus life at TCNJ for 40 years. Last year, construction began on a $37.83 million transformation of the building, funded almost entirely by the college's food service provider, Sodexo. When completed, the reimagined building will incorporate many improvements to the physical space and be equipped to meet the technological needs of our students. Work is being completed in phases over the course of two years, which is allowing the building to remain in use throughout the renovations. A sit-down restaurant, Traditions, opened in February. A new food court will open in fall 2016. Other features include a glass- walled event space, meeting rooms, and offices. Construction will conclude by the start of the fall 2017 semester. Building A Better TCNJ IN BRIEF CAMPUS TOWN BY THE NUMBERS On August 19, 2015, Ewing Mayor Bert Steinmann, Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, President Gitenstein, and PRC Group Chairman and CEO Robert Kay cut the ribbon to formally open the first phase of Campus Town. Made possible by the state's public-private partnership provision in the Economic Stimulus Act of 2009, the development features student apartments, shops, and restaurants that serve both the campus and the surrounding community. Phase two, which features two additional residential buildings, was completed in August 2016.
