33 33 A FULL SET OF THE AUDITED FINANCIAL STATEMENTS MAY BE FOUND ONLINE AT tcnjfoundation.tcnj.edu ANNUAL REPORT 2015–2016 ON A MISSION On March 24, the foundation's board of directors adopted a new mission statement, which codifies the important role the entity plays in supporting educational excellence at e College of New Jersey: "e College of New Jersey Foundation encourages and receives philanthropic support to expand access to and enhance the outstanding educational and community service opportunities provided to students at e College of New Jersey. e foundation carries out its mission by establishing funds for student support, learning experiences, academic enrichment, and capital improvement. By promoting a culture of philanthropy, and through prudent investment, stewardship, and accountability to donors and the community, the foundation advances the college's mission and reputation as a nationally recognized public institution." FUND MANAGEMENT REVIEW In March, the Finance and Investment Committee of the Board of Directors selected Merrill Lynch to provide professional investment management services for the foundation's portfolio. The decision capped a six-month process by which it sought and reviewed proposals from qualified firms. Nine responded to a request for proposals and four were invited to make presentations. "After considering the strength of the presentations, the style of management being offered, investment approach, the team, and pricing, it was the unanimous decision of the committee that we continue with Merrill Lynch as our investment advisors," said Leo Kelly, the committee's chairman, at the board's March 24 meeting.
