6 6 ACADEMIC HIGHLIGHTS School of Science Dean Jeff Osborn, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Jacqueline Taylor, Associate Provost Mosen Auryan, School of Science Assistant Dean Laurel Leonard, and Assistant Provost Jennifer Palmgren accept the Campus-wide Award for Undergraduate Research Accomplishment. A NATIONAL EXEMPLAR IN UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH e College of New Jersey received the first Campus-wide Award for Undergraduate Research Accomplishment from the Washington, D.C.-based Council on Undergraduate Research in January. is annual award recognizes institutions that have devised exemplary programs providing high-quality research experiences to undergraduates. TCNJ was one of just three institutions to receive the award nationally. e rich history and strong institutional commitment to undergraduate research at TCNJ dates back to 1997. e college introduced an extensive series of initiatives targeted at promoting and supporting a culture that is grounded in student engagement, undergraduate research, and the teacher-scholar faculty model. In 2003, the college piloted a major shift in the curriculum that would benefit both students and faculty members. The success of the 2012 cohort can be traced to the college's new "on-track" advising model for its EOF students, one that includes comprehensive counseling, deliberately intrusive academic advising, and early intervention from the Student Support Center for underperforming students. Even despite these successes, EOF Executive Director Tiffani Warren, hired in 2012, and her team of counselors remain committed to continuous improvement, implementing additional programmatic changes aligned around the lofty goal of eventually graduating 100 percent of the college's EOF students within four years. EOF STUDENTS "ON TRACK" TO GRADUATE ON TIME The transformational updates to the college's Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program, which provides financial assistance to economically and educationally disadvantaged students, are paying off. Seventy percent of the EOF students that enrolled in 2012 graduated in May, resulting in a four-year graduation rate that was 20 points higher than that of the 2011 EOF cohort and within a few points of the college-wide average. 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 54% 75% 75% 34% 50% 70% 73% 73% 2013 2014 2015 2016 Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) All Graduates GOING GLOBAL Three hundred and seventy-eight students spent all or part of a semester abroad last year.
