Through the years, as Elizabeth played countless games on countless fields, her father could not help but notice how girls' teams were treated differently than boys' teams. At the club level, says Jim, "Girls…are looked at as second-class citizens on the field and in sports in general." He knew that would not be the case at TCNJ, which was a big reason he embraced his daughter's decision to play soccer for Coach Joe Russo. Last year, Jim and his wife, Kathy '89, affirmed that support with a $100,000 donation to the Lions women's soccer program, creating an endowed fund that will, among other things, help offset travel and equipment costs. For Jim, a one-time professional soccer player with a lifelong passion for the sport, the motivation was simple. "I support my daughter," he says. "I support the cause." $ 25,000 THE ANDY AND MARIA POLANSKY SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT Provides fellowship awards to talented TCNJ students who demonstrate exemplary leadership and a commitment to enriching community by applying their skills in communication, media, and technology.
