23 A NEW DINING TRADITION Chef Carl Ruiz, a restaurant consultant who has helped celebrity chefs craft their brands, is the culinary spark behind TCNJ's homegrown restaurant, Traditions, which opened on February 29 in Brower Student Center. In addition to developing the menu and recipes, he spent a week on campus training the kitchen staff to prep and plate his creations. Ruiz has been featured on The Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" and was a grand-prize winner on "Guy's Grocery Games." SHOWING SOLIDARITY TCNJ's culture of inclusiveness and diversity was on display this year. In November, the campus community twice came together for peaceful assemblies on Quimby's prairie, denouncing racism and discrimination at a "Black Out" rally and commemorating the victims of terrorist attacks in Paris, Beirut, and Sinai during the "Stand United" gathering (pictured).
