5 HEALTHY MINDS The Breathe In — Breathe Out TCNJ initiative won first place in the National Consortium for Building Healthy Academic Communities Wellness Challenge. Sponsored by TCNJ's Healthy Campus Program Council, the initiative encouraged members of the campus community to engage in mindfulness-related activities (like yoga and meditation) on a regular basis for just one month to help reduce stress and cope with upsetting situations. The National Consortium for Building Healthy Academic Communities is a group of academic institutions across the country, dedicated to crafting a comprehensive framework that enriches the health and wellness of students, faculty, and staff. ON A ROLL Student entrepreneurs Mehak Aswani '15, Pauleena Pal '15, and Sheenal Parikh '15 (above) took first place in the 2015 Mayo Business Plan Competition with their plan to bring India's classic street food, the tikka roll, to campus. The team hopes to cater to hungry college students by leasing space in Campus Town, offering late-night hours and delivery by bike. ATHLETICS HIGHLIGHTS FIELD HOCKEY won the 2014 NCAA Division III National Championship (11th in program history and 40th national championship for TCNJ). Lindsey Hatch '15 was named NCAA Division III National Player of the Year, scoring a team-high 33 goals as she led the Lions to the national championship. Hatch also excelled in the classroom, earning CoSIDA Academic All-American honors. TCNJ ATHLETICS CAPTURED seven New Jersey Athletic Conference championship titles during the 2014–15 seasons. They hoisted the NJAC trophy in field hockey, women's tennis, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's swimming and diving, and women's lacrosse. SIX SWIMMERS from The College of New Jersey joined forces to capture a pair of national titles in relay events at the 2015 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving National Championships. The Lions took top honors in the 800-meter freestyle relay event and defended their title the following night, winning the 400-meter free relay for the second consecutive year. DISTINGUISHED STUDENT TEACHER AWARDS Nicole Grabowski '14 and Jeimy Herrera Velasquez '15 were recognized as New Jersey Distinguished Student Teachers by the state Department of Education. Only 15 students statewide received this distinction.
