Severe Weather Severe Weather CAMPUS POLICE: 609-771-2345 < or > dial 9-1-1 from any Campus Phone <> Hurricane/Severe Storm/Flooding 1 Monitor Emergency Alert Systems (radio, test alerts, website) 2 When advised, evacuate to designated safe areas (sec on 20) 3 If me permits, remove items from near windows and secure loose objects 4 Stay indoors during high winds. Stay away from and do not open windows, and keep away from exterior walls and doors 5 If me permits, turn off water/electricity at main controls, unplug appliances 6 Remain in safe area un l warning expires or un l emergency personnel have issued "all clear" signal <> Tornado Warning Issued or Observed Near Campus 1 Shut off gas (for applicable lab personnel) 2 The administra on or appropriate emergency personnel will ac vate no fica on procedures <> Con nued 3 Move students and staff to safe areas. Do not allow evacua- on by vehicles 4 Ensure all persons are in "duck & cover" posi ons under desks or tables 5 Remain in safe area un l warning expires or un l emergency personnel have issued "all clear" signal <> Severe Weather Statement 1 Monitor Emergency Alert Systems (radio, test alerts, website) 2 Bring all persons inside buildings 3 Close windows and blinds 4 Review shelter/evacua on procedures and loca on of safe areas: sec ons 14/20. Basements and enclosed first-floor hallways and rooms are best 5 Review "duck & cover" procedures. (Crouch down on elbows and knees with hands over the back of the head)
