e n g i n e e R S F e e d u S e School of engineering celebrated national engineers Week by hosting a specially themed lunch in eickhoff Hall. With help from Sodexo, the student organizers assembled a menu that featured gourmet dishes with an international twist: many offerings honored the native countries of important historical figures in the field of engineering. A particular favorite? A Stonehenge replica made of Rice Krispy treats! c o l l e g e R e F R e S h e S i d e n T i T Y tCnJ's new visual identity was adopted—a reimagining that both honors the school's rich history and symbolizes its current standing as one of the best undergraduate public colleges in the nation. a F g h a n a R T a R R i V e S Art Amongst War: Visual Culture in Afghanistan, 1979–2014, a collection of contemporary Afghan art curated by Deborah Hutton and emily Croll, opened in the College Art Gallery. e exhibition was one of the first of its kind in the country and received a positive review in e New York Times. c a M p u S T o W n B R e a k S g R o u n d e $84 million public-private partnership is expected to open in time for the 2015–16 academic year, bringing additional student housing to tCnJ and retail and restaurants to the campus and surrounding communities . g i T e n S T e i n J o i n S B i d e n tCnJ president R. Barbara Gitenstein was Vice president Joe Biden's invited guest—one of only five college presidents—when findings from the first report of the White House task Force to protect Students from Sexual Assault were unveiled in April. c l a S S o F 2 0 1 4 e college conferred degrees on 1,747 undergraduates and 371 graduates, and continues to distinguish itself with one of the highest four-year graduation rates in the nation. S p e c i a l o lY M p i c S u S a g a M e S e Special olympics 2014 uSA Games were held on campus, bringing more than 3,500 athletes and their families from around the country for competition and a Jersey Shore boardwalk–themed festival. tCnJ has hosted the state-level Special olympics Summer Games since 1990. T R a i n i n g W i n S a W a R d tCnJ received the 2014 tIpS Award of excellence, one of five institutions to earn the national distinction. e tIpS training program, used on 1,200 campuses across the united States, helps students make smart choices about alcohol use. T c n J g e T S k u d o S e Chronicle of Higher Education named tCnJ to its list of best colleges in the nation to work for, a recognition based primarily on employee feedback. tCnJ won honors in the tenure Clarity and process category—the only new Jersey institution mentioned on the list. T c n J W e l c o M e S F R e S h F a c e S e Class of 2018—boasting 1,436 members— arrived on campus. e class posted an average SAt score of 1237 and more than half were in the top 12 percent of their high school graduating class. 2014 e all-important shovel ceremony marks the start of Campus town. 3
