Strong student outcomes, new and renovated buildings, and top national rankings all say one thing: is is an institution with full wind in its sails. e College of new Jersey Foundation is proud to be a partner in this success. And just like the college we support, we had a banner year this past fiscal year. e tCnJ Foundation's investment portfolios produced solid results with an increase of $5.2 million. e endowment pool posted a positive rate of return of 13.72 percent, up from the previous year's strong performance of 9.34 percent. Meanwhile, the gift annuity pool produced a return of 16.88 percent, up from 10.64 percent in the previous year. As of June 30, 2014, the foundation's assets, which consist primarily of cash and investments, totaled $33.2 million, an increase of $4.6 million or 16.3 percent from the previous fiscal year. is was the result of a combination of appreciation and additional philanthropy. As impressive as this performance is, it's the stories behind these numbers—the motivations of our donors and the ways in which their gifts are making a difference— that keeps our work in perspective. is past year saw loyal alumni, grateful for their own tCnJ experience, pay it forward by making significant gifts to the college. We applaud alumni like Barbara Meyers pelson '59, who established tCnJ's first endowed chair. It will support faculty- student engagement, one of our signature experiences. And Milena pribramska '50, whose heartwarming story illustrates the powerful impact tCnJ has on the lives of its students. our All In for TCNJ campaign, which is aimed at increasing participation in our annual fund, got off to a great start with our president, R. Barbara Gitenstein, and her husband, Donald Hart, leading the way. eir leadership gift will endow the Gitenstein-Hart Sabbatical prize, which will support faculty scholarship. We have seen a record number of first- time gifts to the annual fund, which speaks volumes about how alumni feel about their alma mater. By year's end, we made way for 192 students to receive scholarships, supported the professional development of a sizeable number of faculty, and helped fund programmatic initiatives across the campus. is kind of educational impact is tCnJ Foundation's real bottom line, and we are grateful to all our donors whose generosity made it possible.
