National student steel Bridge Competition A steel bridge designed, fabricated, and constructed by a team of students from the School of engineering placed second in a regional competition held in April at nJIt. e strength of the showing earned the college an invitation to the finals of the national Student Steel Bridge Competition, a first for its 10-year-old civil engineering program. tCnJ was one of only a handful of small colleges to earn a spot in the finals. n a T i o n a l e x i T e x a M S our students demonstrate preparation for entry into professional fields by their very high pass rates on exit exams upon graduation. Some highlights include: • 100 percent pass rate for the Clinical nurse leader certification • 90th percentile or higher in eight of nine categories on the etS Major Fields test in Business • 97 percent pass rate for the national Counselor exam • 88 percent pass rate on the nCleX. tCnJ nursing majors exceed both the state and national averages on this licensure exam. • 85 percent of senior engineering students passed the Fundamentals of engineering (Fe) exam. tCnJ students generally pass the exam at a higher rate than the national average. Students who sat for the civil engineering Fe exam, for example, had a 90 percent pass rate, far exceeding the national pass rate of 74 percent. • 97 percent pass rate on the pRAXIS test for teacher certification • e American Chemical Society ranks tCnJ 23rd in the nation, and first in new Jersey, for producing ACS-certified bachelor's degree chemistry graduates. Distinguished student Teacher Awards Allison McQuillen and Meredith Jeffries were recognized as new Jersey Distinguished Student teachers by the state Department of education. only 15 students statewide received this distinction. tcNJ relay champs!
