39 Class Notes SUMMER 2026 '40s Minerva Ward '47 celebrated her 100th birthday in September with fellow centenarian Sue Ciocco '47. Ward returned to campus in April to enjoy Alumni Weekend festivities. '60s and '70s Frank Van Note '65, MA '75 performed in the ensemble of NENAproductions Theater Project's Sweeney Todd. Former teacher Robert Foster '67 has been enjoying retirement and the year-round sunshine in Alva, Florida. Fred Henry '73 has retired from South Amboy's city government after serving as a council member for 18 years and as mayor for 16 years. '80s and '90s Gary Gellman '89, head of Gellman Images, covered the 17th Annual New Jersey Hall of Fame induction ceremony. He and team members Alana Denenberg '23 and Hailey Ruderman '21 photographed and interviewed the lineup of icons, including musical groups the Jonas Brothers and The Isley Brothers, CNN political correspondent Dana Bash, and chef David Burke . Gregory Rossi '93 retired after 28 years in law enforcement. Over the years, his roles included state investigator with the New Jersey Attorney General's office and detective/lieutenant with the Morris County Prosecutor's office in the major crimes unit. WHAT'S UP? Elaine Rocha '95 is chief executive officer of Madison Square Boys & Girls Club, and the first woman to head the organization since its founding in 1884. She leads strategic growth and partnerships serving over 5,000 youths across New York City. Mary Rizzo '97, associate professor of history at Rutgers University– Newark, wrote Baltimore's Black Arts Then & Now: Behind the Scenes of a Collaborative Public Humanities Project, published by University of Iowa Press. The book explores social justice through the history of Chicory magazine and the community that has been created through it. Walter Laurencio '99 took the oath as Union City's chief of police. He's the first Hispanic to hold the position in the city's 100-year history. '00s Pema Nodong '01 is the diversity, equity, and inclusivity coordinator for the West Windsor–Plainsboro (New Jersey) Regional School District. Alicia Blowers '02, MAT '04 is library department chair and middle school librarian at the St. Stephen's and St. Agnes School in Alexandria, Virginia. She earned a 2022–23 Teachers for Global Classrooms Fulbright fellowship to complete an international field experience in Morocco. Sarah Jewell '03 is chief librarian and associate dean at the City University of New York School of Medicine. She has also served on committees regarding generative artificial intelligence policies at Cornell University. Thomas '78 and Pamela '80 Beer invited longtime friends from TSC to celebrate their daughter's wedding in October 2025.
