11 Prairie FALL 2025 4. Yay for YEA! New Jersey's first Young Entrepreneurs Academy is being hosted on TCNJ's campus in 2026. The national program gives 30 Mercer County high schoolers the opportunity to become real-life entrepreneurs through a 30-week experiential learning initiative. 5. What others say … "The College of New Jersey is a public school that could easily be confused for a private one thanks to its small size, residential model, and liberal arts curriculum." — The editors of Money in their 2025 list of best colleges 6. Board bonus Nursing dean Carole Kenner was named to the board of directors of the Vermont Oxford Network, a collaboration of healthcare professionals working together to improve neonatal care. 7. Building student success Mechanical engineering major Christopher Baker '26 won the 2025 New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers Future Engineer of the Year award. This top recognition came with a $3,000 scholarship. 8. How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Ask conductor and professor Tanya Chanphanitpornkit and music education major Christian Rodriguez '26, who both performed with the New York Youth Symphony at Carnegie Hall's PlayUSA national convening in June. 9. Standing tall Environmental studies major Louis Frontino '27 stuck his neck out as a summer intern in the conservation education department of the Philadelphia Zoo. A fav moment: holding birds at feeding time. 10. Getting the ball rolling TCNJ celebrated its new minor in sports management and communications with a networking night at the Trenton Thunder Ballpark. High school students, college students, and recent grads went behind the scenes with Thunder President Jeff Hurley and General Manager Jon Bodnar. Anthropology professor Miriam Shakow and her students planted native perennials to attract pollinating insects and other wildlife. We can confirm the plants are, indeed, attracting pollinators.
