17 Prairie WINTER 2023 The swim and dive teams get a new pool in this third addition, which actually sits behind the 1961 section. A rotunda is added to provide easy access through all three buildings. The Hall of Champions lives in this building. Make sure to drop by Packer Hall the next time you're on campus to check it out. 1984 The legend Packer Hall is named for Marianna G. Packer (right), the college's head of phys ed and hygiene from 1923–45. In the 2022 renovations, the signage with Packer's name was moved from a side entrance to above the main entrance doors. "We put Marianna front and center," says the design, planning, and construction department. On the Hall's walls The Hall of Champions is not just about the past. A life-size mural on one wall features today's athletes from each of the 20 varsity sports. "It is an honor to be part of the college's rich athletic history and be represented with the many other talented athletes," says Carifi (front row, center).
