21 FALL 2022 plan envisions investment in our facil- ities so that the learning environment prepares students for what they will see and how they will work in settings after TCNJ. TCNJ has traditionally been a primarily undergraduate institution. How will you grow beyond the under- graduate core? Can you give some specifics of what some of the new offerings may be? The plan calls for us to develop graduate degree and certificate programs — and enhance online and hybrid options — that will allow us to serve a broader range of students. For example, we have a new Master's in Public Policy in the final stages of approval that will help meet the demand for trained policy analysts and advocates in Trenton and beyond. We're looking to expand 4+1 and dual-degree offerings, which would allow our undergraduates to stay for an extra year and graduate with a master's. The MPP will be one of several degrees available in this way. There are also new certificates in the pipeline, and we are developing inno- vative ways for students to combine credentials to suit their career needs. It isn't growth for growth's sake, though. Modestly growing enroll- ment will contribute to TCNJ's financial sustainability and provide the resources necessary to support continued excellence across the institution. As you expand, how will you serve the public good? TCNJ's public mission commits to bettering our communities at the local, national, and global levels. Through the plan, we'll create stra- tegic partnerships with govern- ment, corporate, nonprofit, and academic collaborators to align with Extending Our Excellence A detailed outline of what TCNJ's strategic plan promises to do. 5 Benefit current and future generations of undergraduates • Transform the general education curriculum • Integrate career-readiness programs into the curriculum • Provide more ways for students to develop leadership skills • Improve housing quality and options • Expand the TCNJ experience for transfer students Serve new audiences of learners • Develop graduate and continuing education programs • Offer more dual and 4+1 degrees • Provide new modes of instruction • Grow early college programs • Enhance academic options in winter and summer sessions Bolster our impact at local, national, and global levels • Leverage institutional strengths to address community needs • Build external partnerships • Expand support for grants and sponsored research • Maximize community-engaged learning Realize our vision and promise • Implement We Are TCNJ: A Strategy for Inclusive Excellence to increase access and success for students, staff, and faculty from underrepresented and culturally diverse backgrounds; sustain an inclusive and equitable campus environment; and enhance systems, policies, practices, governance, and data to achieve inclusive excellence goals • Bolster marketing to attract applications, increase visibility, and highlight brand • Build cultural and physical capacity to achieve strategy goals PETER MURPHY
