Urban education chair Salika Lawrence challenges teachers to think about this question and how they can use primary sources in their classrooms. She earned a professional development grant from the Library of Congress to further explore the topic. 4. We're beaming Electrical and computer engineering professor Mahrukh Khan won a $200k National Science Foundation grant for work in her Microwave and Wireless Communication Lab. This project is a milestone toward her vision of developing a state-of-the-art research facility to study antennas at TCNJ. 5. Campus buffs Come stretch your muscles at TCNJ's fitness court, located along the Metzger Drive walking path near the baseball field. This public, outdoor center (think: Muscle Beach in Venice, California) features seven exercise stations designed to give users a full-body workout. 6. Gold standard Two-time Paralympian Jack Wallace '20 brought home his second gold medal as a member of Team USA sled hockey at the 2022 Beijing games. 7. 1,200 Pairs of socks the TCNJ commu- nity collected for New Jersey Socks for Homeless, an initiative to benefit individuals seeking assistance at the Rescue Mission of Trenton. Campus police, Staff Senate, Student Government, and several student organizations helped support the cause. 8. Fanfare for democracy A quartet of student trombonists banded together for Ukraine, playing the country's national anthem in a show of support for its people who are under attack by Russia. "This kid gives me chills when he swims" An Instagram comment on a TCNJ Athletics post about swimmer James McChesney '24, who broke a nine-year school record in the 50-yard freestyle event. McChesney also had the fifth fastest time in the nation this season in the 100-yard freestyle and took the podium for a bronze in that event at the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis. 2,000+ individual donors 945 people donated to Athletics (largest total number of donors to one project) 7th year in a row breaking fundraising records 10. Pic of the litter TCNJ art students have teamed up with EASEL Animal Rescue League for a special pet project: They sketch a portrait of your pet, and proceeds support the shelter animals. "I have adopted rescue pets, and they bring so much joy," says artist Leann Janzekovich '23. "This is my way to give back."
