A winning team Trenton Central High School now houses a special TCNJ room to celebrate a new partnership between the college and the Trenton Board of Education that allows students to earn college credits under the national Early College High School program. 6. Dude, where's my bike? TCNJ Campus Police brought some fresh wheels, and big smiles, to the students at Rivera Middle School in Trenton. For the past eight years, the Police Department has collected long-abandoned bikes across campus, and donated them to local schoolchildren. 7. Brains and brawn Men's head basketball coach Matt Goldsmith led a team on ESPN's The Basketball Tourna- ment, a nationally televised, 64-team single elimination contest. The Nerd Team was made up of high-academic players from across the country and included a familiar TCNJ face on the court, Randall Walko '20, who has been playing pro in Taiwan the past two years. Chalk+math=art TCNJ professor Nancy Hingston's chalkboard mathe- matics equation was recently featured in Do Not Erase, a photo essay book that captures the educational benefits of, and beautiful work displayed on, old-school chalkboards. "Pieces of ideas that have not worked out can easily be erased to make way for the next brilliant mistake," she says. 9. Bear-y good patients Preschoolers at HomeFront Camp in Lawrence Township, New Jersey, can feel more confident about going to the doctor thanks to TCNJ nursing students who demonstrated what a typical wellness exam looks like using the kids' stuffed animals. The student nurses also showed the kids proper handwashing techniques and how to stop the spread of germs. 10. Now that's good radio Annette Petriccione '98, a 25-year broadcast jour- nalism veteran, and Patrick Lavery '09 are members of the New Jersey 101.5 team that won the Radio Television Digital News Association's regional Edward R. Murrow award for best newscast.
