2 The College of New Jersey Magazine TALK UP MARK TWAIN CAN RELATE A friend in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, received the magazine and saw my name listed as deceased ("In Memoriam," Winter 2021). I am happy to say that I am still alive and well and regret the early notice of my demise. JOAN WILLIAMS PACHUTA '64, MED '75 Editor's note: Joan, we are deeply sorry for the emotions our error may have caused you, your family, and friends. We are relieved to know you are well and wish you many good years ahead. COUNTLESS THANKS I enjoyed Professor Healey's recounting of his census-taking experience in Hunterdon County, New Jersey ("Down for the Count," Winter 2021). As a resi- dent in the county for 43 years, I iden- tified with the locations he described. I commend him for contributing to our civic society. He has a wonderful understanding of our fellow citizens and the skill to pass on his experience to his students. May his tribe increase. TOM CARROLL '76 I couldn't help but smile when I read Bill Healey's experience as a census taker. It reminded me of the beauty of those rolling hills and landscapes I called home for over 30 years, and of my husband's experience as a 2020 census taker in Collier County, Florida, where we now live. His experiences were simi- lar to Bill's: bilingual 8-year-olds trans- lating for their parents, ornery animals (and people) keeping you off their property, and the enjoyment of talking to people who did answer their doors. The U.S. Census is an important part of government that provides an accurate count of our population that impacts the political, social, and economic future of our country. Thank you, Bill, and all the other census enumerators for a job well done. LINDA TESAURO '77 KEEPING THE JOY I have remained friends with people I met freshman year at Centennial Hall, main floor lake side (Looking Back, Fall 2020). We stayed together through college and since then have met once a year for a reunion in Cape May, New Jersey. Now, we see each other every couple of weeks via Zoom. ANNE MEIKLEJOHN BUSSLER '70 EYES IN THE SOUTHWEST I am just in love with your magazine — style, format, content, design, everything! CLARE VENEGAS University of Dallas chief marketing and communications officer L to R: Anne Meiklejohn Bussler '70, Jean Simpson Shafranski '70, Janet Farina Szurek '70, Debbie Levine Miller '70.
