10 In preparation for the 2020–21 Academic Year, the Office of Student Financial Assistance has outlined some important reminders about the financial aid process for both financial aid applicants and non-financial aid applicants. We are here to counsel you on various resources to help fund your college education. Please do not hesitate to contact our office if you need additional assistance. OFFICE OF STUDENT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Provisional Student Aid Guidelines • To be eligible for federal and state financial aid, you must be a matriculated student in an approved TCNJ degree program. • Once you are admitted for the spring semester, the financial aid office will evaluate your FAFSA data and package you for eligible aid. • Our goal is to package students for spring semester aid in December. • There are two lenders (Sallie Mae and Wells Fargo) that offer loans to non-matriculated students. For more information, visit financialaid.tcnj.edu. Free Application For Federal Student Aid • All FAFSA filers will receive a Student Aid Report. The SAR is sent to the student's email address provided on the FAFSA and serves as confirmation that the federal processor received your FAFSA. • The College of New Jersey's school code (002642) must be listed for our staff to access your FAFSA. You can add the TCNJ school code at fafsa.gov or via phone by calling 1.800.4.FED.AID. • The student's Social Security Number listed on the FAFSA must be reported to the TCNJ Office of Admissions by calling 609.771.2131. Authorized Users (Auxiliary Access) Our office recognizes that there is a delicate balance between the responsibility for maintaining student privacy rights and providing effective and efficient service to our students. Due to the federal law known as Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), we are unable to correspond with anyone other than the student regarding financial aid. This authorized user feature allows students to grant a third party (parent, grandparent, aunt, etc.) the ability to review, at the student's discretion, financial aid, billing emails, bill payment, and student record information. Visit the Student Accounts section for more details. Financial Aid Applicants All Students
