UP F R O N T What campus performances have stayed with you, even 58 years later? Alumni recall college crowd-pleasers, including a woman who lost control when a pop singer called on her. Swept off my feet "Seeing Alvin Ailey perform in 1962 at the college stands out — the Kendall stage burst alive with energetic spins and whirls, fluid movements, and dynamic choreography. As a sophomore, I had little exposure to modern dance or to jazz and blues music, and the dance company itself had only debuted in 1958 in New York City. Ailey's dream was to create harmony in the world through dance, and it is kept alive today by his followers. Memories of this performance are still with me after all these years." —CLAIRE D'AMBROSIO DEICKE '64
