30 FOUNDATION HIGHLIGHTS NEW BOARD MEMBERS Led by a group of distinguished leaders across a variety of disciplines, the members of the TCNJ Foundation help lead the charge to establish a better future for The College of New Jersey and all its constituents. OUR INVESTMENTS The College of New Jersey Foundation's investment portfolios are comprised of an endowment portfolio and a Charitable Gift Annuity and serve the primary objective to provide student support, learning experiences, academic enrichment, and capital improvement for the benefit of the college and its students, faculty, schools, departments, and programs. The investment management of these portfolios is governed by investment policy statements with a moderate-risk profile to balance the permanent nature of these funds with their annual and recurring support function. The primary emphasis for a moderate-risk portfolio is to strike a balance between portfolio appreciation and portfolio stability. This balance is achieved by diversifying the investment portfolios using a multi-manager, multi-asset class approach across equities, fixed income, cash, and alternative investments. Over the previous fiscal year, and in line with the long-term investment performance of the portfolios, the endowment's investment return has exceeded the expected returns of the target asset allocation (as defined by the investment policy statement) with less volatility than the respective index. These excess returns were achieved predominantly by focusing on lower- volatility investments, which proved especially valuable during the fourth quarter of 2018. The College of New Jersey Foundation investment committee reviews the structure and performance of the portfolios on a continual basis to ensure the investment performance and correspondent risk is in line with the investment policy statements. TRENTON STATE COLLEGE PARK TSC Park is located adjacent to Quimby's Prairie, at the intersection of several generations of college history: Roscoe L. West Hall, Forcina Hall, and the newly constructed STEM Building. Dedicated during Alumni Weekend 2018, TSC Park was designed with the college's rich history in mind. "Every element of it tells a story," said Ken Baumann '82, past president of the Alumni Association, at the unveiling. "From the fencing that commemorates the six names by which we have been known to the commemorative panels that will tell the story of each in pictures and words, the park reflects the pride that all of us alumni have for the college." The new green space replaces the brick terrace that previously bordered the north end of Roscoe L. West Hall. Fresh sod, trees, flowers, and ample tables and chairs offer a community gathering space. TSC Park was made possible by gifts from the Alumni Association and the Class of 1968.
