e College of New Jersey ANNUAL REPORT 2018–2019 Retail Therapy Jingyi Duan, assistant professor of marketing and interdisciplinary business, was named a 2018 recipient of the Bright Ideas Research Award for her article investigating how posting purchases on social media affects consumer happiness. Spoiler alert: purchase-posting makes consumers significantly happier. Hybrid MBA In fall 2018, the School of Business announced its Master of Business Administration program, which allows students to earn a graduate certificate after just one year. The program incorporates a "T"-style approach so students can master their business specialization first — data analytics, or strategy, innovation, and leadership — and take that knowledge immediately into the workforce. Selling It A team of six business students took home the proverbial gold at AT&T's first-ever National Sales Competition at the AT&T Corporate Headquarters in Dallas, beating out 30 schools from across the country for a prize that included scholarship money and job and internship opportunities. Emily Bowen '19, Justin Figueroa '22, Austhon Manalac '21, Matthew Nisi '21, Victoria Presser '20, Alden Racz '20, and Aniefre Eddie Inyang, assistant professor of marketing Shark Bait Alums Tom Armenti '09 and Kevin Gabauer '09 scored a $250,000 investment from billionaire Mark Cuban on ABC's Shark Tank with their reimagined hangover food. Fat Shack features towering sandwiches with everything from mozzarella sticks to deep-fried Oreos. Originally launched in 2010 from a Ewing bagel shop, Fat Shack now boasts 13 franchises in Colorado, Texas, and Washington state. 13 $600 scholarships awarded to deserving Ewing students as part of the Student Investment Fund's "Give-Back" program.
