Hands-on demonstrations will show the practical applications of many optical components as well as optical manufacturing processes. In the second portion of this workshop, women optical engineers will discuss what it is like working in the field, including the many benefits of the optics industry and why they truly enjoy what they do. We will create 1–2 minute "science pitches" that summarize the research you've undertaken or the science that you are interested in. Join us to prepare yourself for your next academic conference or job interview, or to prepare your answer to the inevitable question at the next family holiday — "what is it exactly that you study?"
