13 2019 CONFERENCE FOR UNDERGRADUATE WOMEN IN PHYSICS Miller joined the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in July 2006, where she examines semiconductor patent applications including phase-change memory, LEDs, and spintronic devices. She became a primary examiner in 2012, and telecommutes full-time to her DC area office from sunny Orlando, FL. In her spare time, Miller volunteers with the National Society of Black Physicists and the American Physical Society. She mentors junior scientists and new patent examiners. She is founder and CEO of African American Women in Physics, Inc., a non-profit corporation that works to honor pioneering physicists, inspire future physicists, and connect with all people interested in promoting diversity in physics and other STEM fields. Miller is passionate about educating young scientists about non-academic career options. With campus lights turned off, we will show you the moon, stars, star clusters, planets, and much more. Join us on Quimby's Prairie in front of Green Hall, to appreciate the beauty of the night sky. We will have telescopes set up for your use on Quimby's Prairie and planetarium shows running throughout the evening in the Physics and Math Building. Snacks and hot beverages will be provided.
