11 2019 CONFERENCE FOR UNDERGRADUATE WOMEN IN PHYSICS CONFERENCE SCHEDULE DETAILED FRIDAY, JANUARY 18 Check-In 1–4:30 p.m. Brower Student Center Lobby Tour of Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory 1:30–4 p.m. Buses depart at 1:30 p.m. from Brower Student Center Join us for a tour of the U.S. Department of Energy's Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) and get a behind-the-scenes look at a national laboratory where scientists are creating "a star on Earth" as a future energy source. Learn about how fusion could provide clean, affordable, safe, and abundant energy for the future. Tours by PPPL physicists and engineers will include visits to the National Spherical Torus Experiment-Upgrade control room and test cell. Workshop A: Personal Branding through Your Resume Debra Klokis, Associate Director, Career Center, The College of New Jersey 2–3:15 p.m. STEM Building 102 How to showcase your skills and experience to attract potential employers or graduate schools for your next professional steps. If you already have a resume, please bring it with you (this is not a requirement to attend the workshop). Workshop B: Writing an Effective Personal Statement Erin Jo Tiedeken, PhD, Science Grant Writer, The College of New Jersey 3:30–4:45 p.m. STEM Building 102 Whether you are applying to graduate school, trying to earn an award, or searching for a job, at some point you will probably be asked to write a personal statement.
