e College of New Jersey ANNUAL REPORT 2017–2018 SCHOOL OF BUSINESS CEO MARCo MARCo, whose name is an acronym derived from Mentally Assistive Robotic Companion, is a therapeutic device for individuals suffering from mental illness, specifically depression, bipolar disorder, and general anxiety disorder. He and his human counterparts Jacob Boyle '19 and Ryan Chiu '19 make up MARCo Technologies, winners of the $30,000 top prize in the 2018 Mayo Business Plan Competition. With this little robot, the team endeavors to reduce the gap between the number of people who need mental health care and the drastically lower number of licensed caregivers in the United States. Inspired by personal connections to loved ones suffering from mental illness, Chiu, an accounting major, is the chief financial officer, and Boyle, a mechanical engineering major, serves as chief technology officer. MARCo himself is the company's CEO. "Not chief executive officer," Chiu explains. "Chief emotional officer." AACSB ACCREDITATION SIGNIFIES EXCELLENCE IN BUSINESS EDUCATION TCNJ's School of Business has once again earned accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, which signifies excellence in areas relating to strategic management and innovation; students, faculty, and staff as active participants; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement. "AACSB-accredited schools produce graduates who are highly skilled and sought by employers," said Bill Keep, then-dean of the School of Business. "Our graduation outcomes speak for themselves, and the inputs — our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other supporters — make all the difference." TCNJ's School of Business received its initial accreditation from AACSB International in 1997 and was fully reaccredited in December 2012. Less than five percent of schools offering business degrees globally have earned this coveted distinction, with fewer than 50 of those institutions catering exclusively to undergraduate business education. HYBRID MBA FOR MODERN PROFESSIONALS The School of Business received state approval to launch its Master of Business Administration program starting in the fall 2019 semester. Directed toward early career professionals, the MBA will offer a hybrid learning format featuring tracks in data analytics, finance, and strategic management. The program's distinctive "T" structure will allow students to earn a certificate in their area of specialization at the end of their first year. # 44 best undergraduate business programs Poets&Quants HARD-WON LESSONS FROM WSJ EDITOR Joann S. Lublin, management news editor for The Wall Street Journal, addressed topics on which she reports regularly, such as corporate governance and executive pay. During her November 30 visit, she also shared insights from her recently published book, Earning It: Hard-Won Lessons from Trailblazing Women at the Top of the Business World. Starting as one of the first female reporters at The Wall Street Journal, Lublin faced many obstacles during her career. Nearly two-thirds of the 52 women interviewed for her book are experienced public company CEOs. Many overcame professional challenges, and their experiences offer powerful lessons about forging success as a woman in the workplace.
