e College of New Jersey ANNUAL REPORT 2017–2018 The women's basketball team went 22-7 and reached the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament under first-year Head Coach Chessie Jackson. The 22 wins were the highest in a single season since the 2008–09 season, and the tournament appearance marked the first since the 2008–09 campaign as well. Jackson was named NJAC Co-Coach of the Year as well as D3hoops.com Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. Jen Byrne '20 was named First Team All-NJAC as well as Second Team All-Atlantic Region, and Shannon Devitt '21 was named NJAC Rookie of the Year. STUDENT AFFAIRS 6 NJAC titles 12 teams competed in NCAA Tournament/ Championships 12 students named All-Americans 35 consecutive women's tennis NJAC titles On November 16, Sharon Pfluger '82 was inducted into the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's Hall of Fame class as an inaugural member. Pfluger is the winningest women's lacrosse coach in history, posting a career record of 514-58-1 as the head coach at TCNJ. She has coached her squads to postseason tournament bids in every season and won 11 NCAA Division III national championships. A 14-time IWLCA Regional Coach of the Year, Pfluger was named the nation's top coach by her peers in 1987 and 2004. Her players include 81 first-team All- Americans and 18 national position Players of the Year. Pfluger was inducted into the U.S. Lacrosse National Hall of Fame in 2007. Pfluger, who also coaches TCNJ's field hockey team, was one of six inductees chosen by the IWLCA's Hall of Fame committee, chaired by Princeton University head coach Chris Sailer. PFLUGER RECEIVES SECOND HALL OF FAME HONOR RUSSO SCORES 500th WIN Head Women's Soccer Coach Joe Russo achieved his 500th victory last season with a win in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship game. In doing so, Russo became just the fourth head coach to reach the 500-win plateau in NCAA history and only the second at the Division III level. SUPER COOPER Women's cross country team member Natalie Cooper '19 was named an NCAA All- American after placing 28th at the National Championships. She also was named NJAC Runner of the Year for the second year in a row and won the individual NJAC Championship for the second consecutive season. TCNJ EARNS NJAC CUP A year of athletics excellence led to The College of New Jersey earning its first NJAC Cup with an .834 winning percentage, the highest in the three- year history of the NJAC Cup. TCNJ won the award with 116 points out of a possible 139 points, topping second-place Rowan's .816 winning percentage. The Lions recorded the top spot in the NJAC standings in women's soccer, women's tennis, baseball, softball, and lacrosse.
